Description

wood, middle brown patina, bonnet of plaited plant fibre strings, remains of a net-like knotted costume, leather strips, the pointed nose and protruding chin should caricature an European character, slightly dam., missing parts (above the mouth);
in public performances “katoyo” helped Chokwe communities to cope with the presence of outsiders and their new forms of political influence.
