ivory, pigment, old collection label and handwritten inventory number “269-13”

These protective amulets were very popular with the Pende. They are modeled after the “mbuya” masks, which appear in a wide range of variations.


The object Mask-pendant “gikhoko” (pl. “ikhoko”) with the object ID 3046080 was last part of the auction 94th Tribal Art Auction at March 7, 2020 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house and had the lot number 339.
