Description

wood, light and dark brown patina, an oval vaulted base carved with the actual narrow mask face, regular facial features, raised scarification marks, high-towering coiffure, slightly dam., minor missing parts (coiffure), traces of insect caused damage (above all on the forehead), socle;
depiction of a beautiful young woman. “Mblo” masks were used at “gba gba” masquerades taking place on special occasions, for example funeral services or on days of rest.
