wood, matt patina, polychrome paint, tribe-typical facial features and scarification marks, pierced ears, elaborate raffia bast bonnet, min. dam., slight traces of abrasion, base;
scarification marks below the eyes represent tears “masoji”, which may refer to the anguish mothers feel when they are ritually separated from their sons during “mukanda” initiation.
