Description

wood, red pigment, entirely coated with copper sheet (fixed by nails), plant fibre beard with rattan bowl, min. dam., insect caused damage (back), base.
Copper-covered masks were considered highest in rank, they were worn at war ceremonies, celebrating brave “headhunters”. The little balls made of plaited fibres appear to symbolize masculinity.
