wood, red pigment, kaolin, bonnet made from raffia bast and plant fibres, characteristic traits: horizontal browline, eyes with nearly closed lids, “snub nose, pierced around the rim, fine cracks, slight traces of abrasion;
this artist has captured the “bedroom eyes” (“zanze”) believed essential to women’s power over men.
