Description

wood, rich brown patina, traces of black paint, classic form, framing of eyes and scarification marks in concentrical grooves, slightly dam. (left ear of the kalao bird), abrasion of paint, base;
the “kpélié” mask usually has a symbolic arrangement on the top: a comb means the farmer, the needles of the Kapok tree suggest the sculptors and a bird represents a smith.
