Description

wood, black, white and red paint, covered with fine linear striations, slit-like eyes, min. dam., fine cracks, slight traces of abrasion;
such masks were mostly collected between 1900 and 1930. They are called “masques de case” (hut masks), they were not danced and had no holes at the rim for attachment of a costume; probably they were hung from the ceiling of the hut.


The object Mask “kifwebe” with the object ID 3035471 was last part of the auction 74th tribal art auction at September 7, 2013 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 404 achieved a sales price of EUR 4,500.
