Description
light wood, white, black and indigo blue pigment, leather stripes, superstructure in form of a Cross of Lorraine, bonnet from raffia fibre, rep. (breakage), fine cracks, slight traces of abrasion;
presumably representing the bird “kommolo tebu” with spread wings and black and white plumage, when after its shooting the hunter carved the first “kanaga”.
The object Mask “kanaga” with the object ID 3039792 was last part of the auction 82nd Tribal Art Auction at February 27, 2016 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 276 achieved a sales price of EUR 450.
