This type of mask is referred to as a “runner mask”. In the vicinity of Man, many villages hold weekly races for young men during the dry season. The winner of each race earns the privilege of wearing the mask in the following race and defending his title.


The object Mask “gunye ge” with the object ID 3052401 was last part of the auction Auction 105 at November 15, 2025 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 220 achieved a sales price of EUR 2,000.
