wood, brown grounding, coated with a thick layer of kaolin, fabric, cord material, expressive face with a big open mouth, revealing three teeth and a tongue made of red dyed leather, fierce look underneath strong brows, moustache and forehead ornament of real hair, slightly dam., minor missing parts (eyes, corner right hand side), crack (upper rim), paint rubbed off;
these masks represent deities. They have been used during local ceremonies and dancing performances and are connected with local archaic traditions and hinduistic influence.
The object Mask “fagli” with the object ID 3036030 was part of the auction 75th tribal art auction on November 30, 2013. The object with the lot number 18 achieved a sales price of EUR 1,800 with an asking price of EUR 1,500.
