Together with the Sukuma, Sumbwa, Kimbu, Gala and Konongo the Nyamwesi constitute the most distinguished ethnical group in Tanzania. They are known for their sculpture. Masks of the Nyamwezi differ widely in stylistic traits, so that a clear attribution is difficult.
