drilled holes around the rim, min. dam., traces of insect caused damage, traces of abrasion, base.
Together with the Sukuma, Sumbwa, Kimbu, Gala and Konongo the Nyamwesi constitute the most distinguished ethnical group in Tanzania. They are known for their sculpture. Masks of the Nyamwezi differ widely in stylistic traits, so that a clear attribution is difficult.


The object Mask with the object ID 3043172 was last part of the auction 88th Tribal Art Auction at March 10, 2018 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 502 achieved a sales price of EUR 1,500.
