Description

wood, encrusted brown patina, sacrificial traces, remains of pigments, roof-like protruding forehead, tubular projecting mouth, metal clamps and nails inserted on the head, handwritten collection number “1356” on the backside, min. dam., small missing parts, traces of abrasion, base;
the Igbirra, or Ebira, are a small ethnic group living to the southwest of the Niger-Benue Confluence in Nigeria.


The object Mask with the object ID 3040653 was last part of the auction 83rd Tribal Art Auction at May 28, 2016 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 263 achieved a sales price of EUR 1,300.
