Description

wood, polychrome paint, small mask face with characteristic facial features and cap-like headgear, surmounted by a tortoise, abundant cuff of grass fibre bundles underneath, min. dam., traces of insect caused damage and abrasion, fine cracks;
the Zombo are a small ethnic group, which Lehuard (1989) ascribed together with the Sosso and Nkanu to the Kongo cluster. Their artistic expressions - mainly masks - are strongly influenced by the Yaka and their art works are often confused with them.
