Description

wood, blackish brown patina, dominated by a board-shaped superstructure widely projecting to the back, slightly dam., rep. (vertical breakage through the whole mask face and the front part of the projection), cracks, abrasion of paint;
probably representing a rare mask type called “dyodyomini” (“pecking bird”), even though the projection is growing backwards, instead of forward, as normally is the case (compare H. Leloup, 2011, p. 362, ill. 69). The mask should catch and control the vital force, which could become dangerous when allowed to roam around.
