Description
wood, slightly encrusted patina, polychrome paint, disc-shaped base, carved with an anthropomorphic face, the rim with triangular ornaments in bas-relief, pierced around the rim, min. dam., small missing parts, cracks, slight traces of abrasion, base;
this mask shows elements of both the Ibibio and the Eket and probably derives from the border area of both ethnic groups.
The object Mask with the object ID 3035836 was last part of the auction 75th tribal art auction at November 30, 2013 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 177 achieved a sales price of EUR 1,500.
