Description

wood, coated with a thick encrusted layer of kaolin and greyish brown patina, a wide facial plane with the facial features concentrated on a rather small area, the eye-zone enclosed by c-shaped ear conches, crowned by a flat head crest in openwork design, vaulted by two snakes with curved bodies arranged opposite to each other, sacrificial traces (head), slightly dam. (mouth, ears), crack/breakage (head), metal socle;
reminding of the Voodoo terracottas “kronkronbali” of the Ewe/Fon, which used to be placed on ancestor altars.
