Description

wood, polychrome paint, striking scarification marks in the area of forehead, nose and cheeks, additionally accentuated by wooden splinters, min. dam., small missing parts, slight traces of abrasion, socle;
Bwaka masks are used during circumcision rites when the initiates return to the village, but they are worn by members of the anti-witchcraft society as well.


The object Mask with the object ID 3034496 was part of the auction 72nd tribal art auction on March 9, 2013. The object with the lot number 419 achieved a sales price of EUR 4,500 with an asking price of EUR 4,000.
