Description

wood, brown patina, of elongated form with accentuated chin, broad alae and rhomb-shaped protruding eyes, strings of cowrie snails, bell and calabash attached, pierced around the rim, min. dam., traces of abrasion;
probably this relative rare mask type shows a bush cow and appears at the “ogun” festivities.


The object Mask with the object ID 3033226 was last part of the auction 70th tribal art auction at September 8, 2012 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 339 achieved a sales price of EUR 500.
