Description

wood, matt brown patina, kaolin, of oval form with accentuated eyes and a flat triangular nose, an open mouth with full lips, metal teeth and red fabric tongue, plant fibre beard, pierced around the rim, min. dam., slight traces of abrasion;
the Ngere are also called the Southern Wè. They are setteled to the southeast of the Dan and to the west of the Bete. The typical Ngere masks, however indulge in extreme presentations of human and zoomorphic elements.


The object Mask with the object ID 3032331 was last part of the auction 68th tribal art auction at March 3, 2012 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 140 achieved a sales price of EUR 800.
