Description

wood, metal, closed oval ring, tube-shaped, getting broader to the front, the original coating of highly polished discs of coconut shells now missing, the grooved structure originating from the discs still visible on the surface of the wood, old label;
the capture of a head was an essential requirement of coming of age in old Nias. It marked the entry of the young warrior into manhood, and announced his status as an eligible desirable bachelor.


The object Man’s necklace “kalabubu” with the object ID 3040784 was last part of the auction 83rd Tribal Art Auction at May 28, 2016 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 32 achieved a sales price of EUR 100.
