Description

wood, beautiful blackish brown patina, cowrie shells, three strings thread with miniature glass beads, one with coconut discs, typical style characteristics of Abeokuta carvers: oversized hands, male figure carved with loincloth, “egba” tribal marks and crested coiffures, pupils originally stud with metal tags, facial features strongly abraded by repeated feeding procedures, each mounted on pedestal
