wood, brown patina, remains of dark paint, facial features rubbed off in parts, rep. (right arm), min. dam., missing part (base), on wooden base;
alike the “ibeji” figures of the Yoruba, the “venavi” figures were carved for deceased twins or triplets. They serve as abode for the spirit of the deceased.
