Description

wood, camwood paste, indigoblue pigment, coconut discs, leather, nailheads (eyes) missing, washing patina

The features of this beautiful old “ibeji” are rubbed almost beyond recognition by feeding procedures.

On the heavy coat, which is covered with cowrie snails, two packages with magical charges have been preserved. One cowrie string has come loose, some shells are missing.


The object Male twin figure “ere ibeji” in cowry coat with the object ID 3047003 was last part of the auction 95th Tribal Art Auction at October 24, 2020 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 202 achieved a sales price of EUR 1,600.
