A comparable “ibeji” figure of Akinola shown in Homberger, Zurich 1991, p. 37, ill. 53.

Both figures demonstrate Akinola’s eye for clear lines and strictly defined masses, as well for naturalistic details, such as the carved pectoral muscles and shoulder blades.


The object Male twin figure “ere ibeji” with the object ID 3046503 was part of the auction 94th Tribal Art Auction on March 7, 2020. The object with the lot number 191 achieved a sales price of EUR 1,000 with an asking price of EUR 600.
