Like the Gato, the Konso used pole-shaped memorial post sculptures, carved for important deceased personalities and the enemies killed by them. But whereas the Gato carve these posts only as memorials of the dead the Konso also produce them for the living and sometimes for themselves personally - together with prestige attributes which mark their position in the society.
The object Male ancestor post “waga” or “waka” with the object ID 3043629 was part of the auction 88th Tribal Art Auction on March 10, 2018. The object with the lot number 494 achieved a sales price of EUR 7,500 with an asking price of EUR 5,000.
