Description

leather, velvet, finely chiselled gold plated silver fittings, multicolorored glass stones, metal appliqués and chains, extremely elaborate and finely decorated on both sides

These valuable humpback shields served as a tribute to aristocrats and especially deserving warriors.


The object Magnificent shield “tafa gassa”, late 19th century with the object ID 3045099 was part of the auction 91 Tribal Art Auction on March 9, 2019. The object with the lot number 383 achieved a sales price of EUR 1,600 with an asking price of EUR 1,000.
