Description

wood, remains of painting in white, red and black, traces of red pigment, metal teeth, remains of fabric from different materials, projecting forms, marked by two pairs of castagnet-shaped eyes and pointed nose plug, slightly dam., minor missing parts, abrasion of paint, holes from nails;
the Ngere are also called “southern Wè”. They settle to the southeast of the Dan and to the west of the Bete. The characteristic Ngere masks indulge in extreme presentations of human and zoomorphic elements.


The object Large mask with the object ID 3041244 was last part of the auction 84th Tribal Art Auction at November 5, 2016 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 90 achieved a sales price of EUR 1,800.
