Description

wood, hide, massive rattan ring, wrapped with bark cloth,
These superb large drums belonged to “ondoforo”, hereditary chiefs who were both the political and religious leaders of society. The drums received individual names. The sound of the drum beat was the voice of the ancestor spirit with whom the drum was connected. When not in use the drums were kept in the chiefly house.
