Former state Sen. Jack Faxon was an avid collector who filled his Birmingham house with art and objects ranging from African masks and figures to choice pieces of American arts-and-crafts. He lended objects from his private collection to the “Detroit collects African Art” ehibition in the Detroit Institute of Arts, April 21 - May 29, 1977. Later in his life he donated objects to the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Smithsonian Institution Washinton, DC.

Unusually large, flat mask face with metal appliqués. The patina heavily encrusted in places. Wooden pegs in the eye zone and on the back.
