The Willborg family lived for some time in Rhodesia, where Max Willborg worked for the Victoria and Albert Museum in Harare from 1969-70. The note “R114” stands for Rhodesia and the 114th object that Max Willborg acquired there.

The object was then owned by Peter Willborg for thirty-five years.


The object Knife with sheath “bakatwa” with the object ID 3046413 was last part of the auction 94th Tribal Art Auction at March 7, 2020 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 64 achieved a sales price of EUR 350.
