Description

wood, slightly encrusted greyish brown patina, strings of cowrie shells around neck, arms and hips, scarification marks on the face, min. dam., slight traces of abrasion;
the Turka are a small ethnic group belonging to the Senufo. They have their homeland in southwestern Burkina Faso. Only a few figures from the Turka are known. They are characterized by their own peculiar style which however incorporates elements of the surrounding groups.


The object Kneeling female figure with the object ID 3037933 was last part of the auction 79th Tribal Art Auction at March 21, 2015 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 218 achieved a sales price of EUR 400.
