Description

heavy wood, shiny dark brown patina, the faces strongly reminding of helmet masks of the Makonde, min. dam., fine cracks, slight traces of abrasion;
figures of the Makonde are rarely to be found, most of them are in museums, only a few of them in private collections. Most of them are females in a so-called “dancing posture”.


The object Kneeling couple with the object ID 3040681 was last part of the auction 83rd Tribal Art Auction at May 28, 2016 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 518 achieved a sales price of EUR 800.
