Kava bowl "tanoa djina"

Description

wood, blackish brown patina, of circular form, rising from four short feet, drilled holes for suspension, min. dam., fissures, traces of usage;
kava (or “yanggona”) is the root of Piper Methysticum, which yields a mildly intoxicating drink when fermented. Kava is drunk both casually and ceremonially. Regular bowls, such as the present example, have four legs, while large ceremonial bowls have eight or ten legs. A cord passed through the projecting lug to hang the bowl when not in use.
