The dance staff can be attributed to the same workshop / hand as the two “shango” staffs depicted in Drewal, dating to the late 19th / early 20th century and attributed to Ibadan artist Amos Lafia of Idi Aro (Drewal, 1980, Abb. 15 and 16).)


The object Janus-faced dance wand “oshe shango” with the object ID 3044820 was last part of the auction 90.I Tribal Art and 90.II Contemporary Native American Art at November 17, 2018 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 210 achieved a sales price of EUR 500.
