wood, painted in black, kaolin, remains of plant fibre for fixing the movable jaw, painted tattoo on the forehead, slightly dam., missing parts (backside at the rim), crack (left horn).
Belonging to the “ekpo” society. Most Ibibio masks are dark coloured, as embodying ugly, unsatisfied spirits whose behaviour provided negative examples for the living.
