Description

wood, blackish patina, well-balanced facial features with pierced see holes, flanked by notched horns, remains of mass and fibre in the eye zone, which originally was coated by a band of fabric, drilled holes around the eyes, proving a former metal framing, grooved line with drilled holes around the chin, cord material for attachment, slightly dam. (nose), minor missing parts, drilled holes around the rim mostly broken out, paint rubbed off, traces of old age and usage, on base;
according to the pre-owner the mask is in Europe since 1874, its possession is documented for Ernest Stanislas Le Vegl, Paris, France. Rare mask type !
