The all-powerful “zo gbe” mask, exercises the supreme authority in the “sande” society for women. “Zo gbe” masks suddenly burst upon the crowd form the darkest reaches of the forest to attain the maximum emotional impact. This may explain why the coastal population call them “black devil”.

The object Helmet mask “zo gbe” with the object ID 3044102 was last part of the auction 89th Tribal Art Auction at July 7, 2018 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house and had the lot number 137.
