Description

wood, polychrome paint, helmet-shaped corpus with the facial contours separated in a raised line, prominent forehead crest with disc-shaped elements, min. dam., crack, traces of abrasion;
the “egu” cult for the spirits of the dead is very important amongst the Igala. It is performed at the time of the yams harvest festivities, when the ancestors are evoked. “Egu” is symbolized by the “ojuegu” mask.
