Description

wood, reddish brown paint, colour accents in black and white, the head widely projecting to the back, compressed facial features, ritually “shaved” coiffure arranged in four stripes, abundant scarification marks, drilled pupils, slightly dam., abrasion (lower rim).
A “gelede” mask by the same hand, ex Armand Arman Collection, was auctioned at Zemanek-Münster in 2011.


The object Helmet mask “gelede”, before 1910 with the object ID 3043266 was last part of the auction 88th Tribal Art Auction at March 10, 2018 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 338 achieved a sales price of EUR 800.
