Description
wood, reddish brown patina, indigo blue pigment, helmet-shaped base, carved with a human face, supporting a sitting female figure with disc-shaped crested coiffure, holding a child on her lap, two further children aside of her, a further one on the back, min. dam., missing parts through insect caused damage, cracks, traces of abrasion;
used at “epa” celebrations, which last for several days. Young men proof their skills and strength by carrying such high tapering and heavy masks on top of their heads, while dancing and jumping.
