Description

wood, blackish brown patina, kaolin, carved with a crest of arrow heads, plant fibre cord, slightly dam., abrasionof paint, rep. (breakages), cracks, base.
According to Wittmer masks with arrow platform superstructures are mostly attributed to the Babungo. The peoples of Babungo and Bamunka, both of which are important Grasslands smelting centers, attach special significance to smiths.


The object Helmet mask with the object ID 3043176 was last part of the auction 88th Tribal Art Auction at March 10, 2018 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 344 achieved a sales price of EUR 2,500.
