Description

wood, kaolin, black and red paint, remains of green, small base with drilled holes for attachment, carved with a square platform, which is crowned by a standing female figure, holding two items in her big hands, elaborate coiffure, carved with necklace and belt, enlivened by changing colours, slightly dam., minor missing parts, rep. (both forearms), crack (platform), socle;
according to Cole/Aniakor such finely carved headdresses showing full figures belong to the “owu” cult and masquerade.
