Description

red terracotta, dark pigment, rising from pointed neck, fringe of hair and beard with grooved decor, acrylic base;
according to Esther A. Dagan such heads were found stuck in the ground in a circular fashion around graves which were covered with stones. A fact that indicates that they were associated with burial rites or customs.


The object Head sculpture with the object ID 3041372 was last part of the auction 84th Tribal Art Auction at November 5, 2016 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 264 achieved a sales price of EUR 350.
