Description

wood, dark brown patina, pigment remains, long neck with a collar of inserted wooden plugs, face with raised contour and diadem-like disc-shaped headdress, min. dam., cracks, missing parts through insect caused damage, on wooden base;
the Tikar first were explored by the Thorbecke expedition in 1911/12. Their art is very special, especially their life-sized headcrests with cuffs of plant fibres are unique within the Cameroon Grassfields.
