silver alloy, base

Every Ethiopian clergyman always carried a hand cross with him. When he met a believer, he held the cross up to him. The believer then touched the cross adoringly with his forehead, and then kissed it.

The hand cross is associated with legends about saints and their miracles. At the same time, however, it was not to be missed in the exorcism of demons and for the blessing of healing water.
