light brown wood, matt partly black encrusted patina, columnar base, extraordinary detail: the head turned to the back, no facial features, min. dam., cracks, slight traces of abrasion, socle;
the Dogon place their figures on a number of altars, most of them dedicated to real or mythological ancestors.
