Description

wood, dark brown patina, crowned by a seated female “mwana hiti” figure, min. dam., slight traces of abrasion;
a Zaramo or Kwere husband gave his wife a hairpin either when the first daughter was born or when they moved into their own house. Afterwards the hairpins were worn as ornaments on festive occasions.
