Description

from light wood, with remains of kaolin and black paint, a) miniature mask with plant fibre beard, h: 8,2 cm, fine grass fibres for fixing, five small deepenings filled with magical substances, remains of red pigment backside; b) miniature mask with horizontal deepened eye zone, h: 9,5 cm, smooth surface (cheeks) in contrast to characteristically grooved areas; c) miniature mask, h: 15,5 cm, smooth facial plane, grooves marking hairdo; d) miniature mask, h: 10,5 cm, eye brows in concentrical grooves; all four masks with traces of old age and usage, with minor missing parts and abrasion of paint, drilled holes around rim partly broken out


The object Four miniature masks “kifwebe” with the object ID 3039805 was part of the auction 82nd Tribal Art Auction on February 27, 2016. The object with the lot number 221 achieved a sales price of EUR 1,800 with an asking price of EUR 1,200.
