Description

wood, slightly encrusted reddish brown patina, staff-like figure, iron spit at the bottom, min. dam., fissures, slight traces of abrasion, base;
“tauwa” figures are pure protective figures, which should help against snake poison, but they were used at harvest festivities as well. They were kept in small houses called “wula tauwa”, where they were stuck into the ground.


The object Figure “tauwa” with the object ID 3035765 was last part of the auction 75th tribal art auction at November 30, 2013 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 98 achieved a sales price of EUR 800.
